Number Our Days is a sensitive and compassionate portrait of a community of elderly Eastern European Jews living in Venice, California. Based on the anthropological fieldwork of Dr. Barbara Myerhoff, the film portrays a group of disadvantaged but resilient individuals sustaining their vivid cultural heritage amid poverty and loneliness in modern America. Showing both good times and bad, celebrations and everyday realities, this moving documentary highlights the community’s supportive character, while illuminating the lives of these “indomitable survivors” with gentleness and honesty.

This film is widely acclaimed by critics, anthropologists, and religious leaders for its truth and moving humanity.
